How to Measure Influencer Marketing Results: Views, Engagement and What Matters

A plain-English guide to influencer campaign metrics: views, reach, engagement rate, clicks and conversions, plus how to compare creator videos and improve the next campaign.

Influencer marketing reports are often full of big numbers that are hard to act on. This guide explains what each common metric really tells you, and how we use them to make the next campaign better.

Views

Views count how many times a video was played. They are the easiest number to compare across creators, but they do not tell you who watched or whether they cared. Always note the date: on YouTube, good videos keep collecting views long after launch.

Reach

Reach is the number of unique people who saw the content. It is usually only visible in the creator’s own analytics, so ask for screenshots if reach matters to you.

Engagement rate

Engagement rate compares interactions, such as likes and comments, with views. A simple version is (likes + comments) ÷ views. For example, one of our campaign videos had about 32,700 likes and 1,100 comments on roughly 1.13 million views, an engagement rate close to 3%. Look at comment quality too: real questions about your product are worth far more than emojis.

Clicks and conversions

Clicks, sign-ups and sales are what most brands care about, but they only appear in reports if tracking is agreed before launch. Use a unique link or code per creator. Without tracking, nobody can honestly attribute sales to a video.

Search ranking

For YouTube campaigns, check whether each video ranks for its target keyword. A video that ranks keeps bringing in new viewers without extra spend. Two of our campaign videos grew from around 10 thousand early views to more than 200 thousand largely because they ranked.

Compare videos, not just totals

The most useful report compares every video in the campaign side by side: which creators, hooks, titles and formats performed best? We track all campaign videos after upload in one place, so the comparison is clear and the next campaign starts from what actually worked.

Questions to ask in every report

  • What is the source and date of each number?
  • Which video performed best, and why?
  • Which videos are ranking on search?
  • What should change in the next round?
